Pond sludge & muck removers are formulated specifically for the removal of organic bottom solids (sludge) that are slow to degrade. They work faster at warm water temperatures, however, may be used effectively at any temperatures year-round. They are especially helpful for ponds that have a rock or gravel bottom and where vacuuming is impractical.
Keep a close eye on your pond during the winter months to ensure there is an opening in the ice to allow oxygen into the water and gases to escape.
When planning your pond, make sure to incorporate shelves or ledges at different depths for plants. A shelf 6”-12” deep is good for many marginal plants. A deeper area 18”-24” is best for water lilies.
