Tropical marginal pond plants are often the focal point of the pond. Flowering tropicals have bold beautiful flowers, and provide non stop blooms all summer. While, non flowering plants like Papyrus have lush foliage that give provide vertical height and texture.
Keep a close eye on your pond during the winter months to ensure there is an opening in the ice to allow oxygen into the water and gases to escape.
When planning your pond, make sure to incorporate shelves or ledges at different depths for plants. A shelf 6”-12” deep is good for many marginal plants. A deeper area 18”-24” is best for water lilies.
