This beautiful spring fed pond is about 1/3 acre in size and is located in the Caledon area. You can tell from the pictures that it has been well maintained. The owner has added large granite boulders along the edge of the pond as well as and split ganite for a seating area and steps into the pond.
It is approximately 175′ (53 m) long and averages 85′ (26 m) wide. The maximum depth of the pond is 8′. There are several mature deciduous trees around along the shoreline of the pond.
The client was mainly concerned with some weeds and unwanted plant growth that was beginning to take over. There were yellow flag iris and grasses growing along the shoreline and between the large grantie boulders. There was also some algae and submerged aquatic plants growing in the shallow areas below the surface of the water.
Although they already had an existing floating fountain, it was was approximately 15 years old and had seen better days. So the clients decided to add an additional Oase 1/2 HP floatig fountain to aerate the pond.
Below are some pictures of the pond cleaning process. We hand dug out the iris and grasses that were growing along the shore, removing as much of the root system as possible to prevent them from growing back. Then, using weed rakes and cutters, we removed the submerges weeds and dome fiolamentous algae from the pond. Once that was completed we ‘tidied up’ the shoreline and shaped it, providing a smooth well defined edge.
Once the pond cleaning was complete, we installed the Oase 1/2 HP floating fountain with LED Lights. Initially, we installed the 3 Tier nozzle, which is always a popular choice. Ulimately, the client decided to go with the trumpet nozzle which provides a more classic look. The nozzles are easily changed if they ever decide to use the Single Tier or 3 Tier nozzles.
