Water temperature is an important to all aspects of pond keeping, especially feeding your koi or goldfish. Fish metabolism is directly related to water temperature. So as water temperatures decrease, fish metabolism slows down , they become less active, they gradually eat less and eventually stop eating altogether. As water temperatures rise, their metabolism increases, they become increasingly active and their appetites increase.
Use the thermometer below to plan your fish feedings.

Oxygen levels in the pond can become low. Maintain or increase circulation and aeration to provide as much oxygen as possible.
Reduce feeding amount and watch fish closely for signs of stress.
Feed a quality 'Summer' food 2 to 4 times per day - as much as your fish will consume in 3-5 minutes.
Feed a fish a highly digestible wheat germ "Spring & Fall" food - 1 to 2 times per day
Do not feed fish. Maintain a hole in the ice to allow proper gas exchange
